Round-up

PERSONAL GOALS:

1) Implement a simple AI

Reason: This is something i haven't done before and i wanted to make it a part of my toolkit and keep it simple enough for a weekend jam.
Outcome: There were many Pong AI posts on the web but very few Breakout ones but they seemed similar enough so I just built from what i found. In the end it works well enough but the added requirement of using the discharge ability means it really does need some balancing.

2) Implement multi-player

Reason: I have only implemented multi-player in one other game and it was also for a jam and it really fell short so I wanted to improve in this area.
Outcome: I am reasonably happy with the multi-player. If I did have more time i would like to have not done local but on-line multi-playerbut I guess that's for the next jam.

SHORT-COMINGS:

1) Levels

Reason: It basically came down to a lack of time and in the end enthusiasm. The system is there so if I decide to develop this further they can be improved.

2) Balance

Reason: I really didn't have enough time to balance alot of things. I really would have liked to balance the discharge ability more or at least it's AI use.

3) Instructions

Reason: I don't like the fact I had to cram basic instructions on the main menu and instead would have liked to have had a short demo or something

4) Player feedback

Reason: I was going to add feedback about the score multiplier changing with the amount of charge collected but didn't have time so...

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

With more time and motivation I feel I could have made a more polished game. In the end I got something done and that can't be all bad. I know it is only a modified clone of Breakout but it has a bit more spit and polish than my previous jam games and I notice I can get more things done more quickly the more I do them so that's a positive. Thanks for playing.
